Rainn Wilson on Oprah

Baha'i Perspectives March 6th, 2009

As one of the better known Baha’is on the international scene, Rainn Wilson (who plays Dwight on The Office) has been letting people know the basics of this Faith whenever afforded the opportunity in the media — particularly mentioning the onenesses of God, religion and humanity.

Recently, as many are already aware, he wrote a commentary for CNN bringing awareness to the plight of the 7 Baha’i leaders who remain wrongfully incarcerated in Iran.

And now, he will be chatting with Oprah Winfrey on her “Soul Series” webcast. Some details of the upcoming interview, taken from Oprah.com:

What a coincidence! Just last night I was
talking to my kids about Fasting, Prayers and
reading of the HolyWritings and I mentioned
if only Oprah knew about the Baha’i Faith.
My daughter Sheida said would you be witing
to her Mom and I said “I would” and another
coincidence we both watched the movie,
    produced by Oprah,
“The Great Debaters” last night on DVD.

Looking forward to watching Rainn on
her show. I live in Malaysia so hope to see
    it soon.

    Love always

Wonderful news, this is a warm all embracing humble faith that gives back to humanity with out mentioning it to the news media.
I think Oprah already is a Baha’i, she just doesn’t know it!!!
I believe she gets up in the morningwondering what she can do for the world…NOT, what the world can do for her.
Look forward to watching the show.
    God Bless

    Greetings,
I am very happy to see Mr. Wilson speaking out about the plight of the friends in Iran. Also the movie, The Great Debaters, has a close connection to the Baha’is, in particular: Mr. Brandsford Watson whose father was one of the professors at one of the colleges featured in the movie. Brandy Watson is a great Baha’i, an extremely patient man.

I am a big fan of Rainn and met him once here in Austin TX. You’re doing a great job for the Baha’i in Iran and God bless you and bless America.

When is your next movie? The kids and I are waiting :) .

    Love you Oprah!

That is only the power of Baha’, who chooses you to be a reed and sing His words. Lucky you.
Wish you success and more of this kind of program’s..

Although i am not a Baha’i, i very much believe in their Prophet’s message of: giving and helping others in need (spiritually, emotionally, economically…); going beyond tolerance; accepting and loving all races and religions (as we all are “one people”). I have not met a Baha’i i don’t like and admire.

Therefore, i have much praise for Rainn Wilson and Oprah for helping to bringing further recognition to the Baha’i Faith, and its long-time struggle in Iran. This cruel punishment of these innocent people must cease.

To the Iranian Government: Please search your heart for some compassion. This, and other, groups have spent months/years in prison. Is that not enough punishment for the crime(s) you believe they may have committed?

With love and peace for all,
    Teddi
